Buying Tracking Software: How Much Staff Training Is Required?

When shopping for tracking software...

How much staff training will be required?

Several factors impact the ability and convenience to additional employee training and development. To name a few:

  1. The number of employees can make a difference in how much technological training the company can afford. A two-man business can more easily arrange to be trained on new software, whereas a company with, say, 50, 100, or 500 employees requires a very methodical and costly process to train all employees on something new. Not only that, but the need for employee buy-in regarding new innovations further compounds the roll-out of new technology.
  2. Geography is another factor to consider when it's time for employee training. Companies that span across several locations instead of one must corroborate when, where, and who will conduct the desired development sessions. New innovations must be observable across all locations, which is harder to do if the locations receive separately scheduled training days.
  3. The H.R. and I.T. departments of a company may or may not have the capacity to handle their own training on new technology. For example, if H.R. does not include corporate trainers, or if the technology department consists only of addressing technology problems, then the organization should find software that easy to learn. Otherwise, new inventory software will be more trouble than it is worth.

Those are just a few points with which to reflect. However, with quality tracking software, your company's number of employees, locations, and infrastructure should not matter.

The answer to this question is important to ask as you're talking to all the software companies competing for your business.

High Quality Software should be easy to learn and operate!

Therefore, be leery of companies that boast about their ability to train you on their software.

Some software companies advertise a lot of free training sessions, webinars, and a continued on-site presence as a special package with your software purchase. On the surface, this would appear to be good service. However, the opposite it true. Multiple and extended training opportunities should NOT be necessary!

The whole point of great tracking software is to simplify and perfect inventory management. Flowtrac's software solves your problems, not complicates them. Our systems are designed to be extremely user-friendly.

Our software is easy to learn for ALL your employees. We have made sure of that.
